What this notice covers
The website database.mastertuning.it and the MasterTuning Vehicle Database app for iPhone and Android. Sections that apply only to the app are marked as such.
What we collect
If you only browse the catalogue — on the website or in the app — we ask you for nothing and you do not need to register.
If you request a quote we collect your name, email address, phone number (optional), the vehicle you indicate, the workshop you choose, any preferred appointment day and the message you write.
If you create an account in the app we collect your name, email address, a password stored in encrypted form, and your phone number if you provide it.
If you save a vehicle in the app's Garage we store the vehicle you picked from the catalogue and, only if you choose to enter them, the number plate, year of registration, mileage and a name you give the car. These are optional: the app works without them.
If you enable notifications we store a technical identifier that your phone assigns to the app. It is not your phone number and does not identify you: it only allows messages to be delivered.
The app uses no cookies and contains no advertising or profiling tools. Your preferences (chosen language, recently viewed vehicles) stay on your phone and are not sent to us.
Why we process them, and on what legal basis
- Answering quote requests and arranging appointments — needed to provide the service you asked for (Art. 6.1.b, EU Regulation 2016/679).
- Running your account and Garage — same basis: without that data the account cannot exist.
- Sending notifications about your cars (for example when the power figures of your engine change) — on the basis of the consent you give by enabling them, which you can withdraw at any time in your phone settings.
- Marketing communications — only with separate consent, withdrawable at any time.
The number plate
A number plate is personal data: it identifies a vehicle and, indirectly, its owner. We therefore process it only if you enter it yourself, use it only so you can recognise your own car inside the app, never disclose it, and never match it against third-party databases. You can delete it at any time by removing the vehicle from your Garage.
Who we share data with
Quote requests are passed to the MasterTuning workshop you chose, so it can answer you. The list of installers also includes centres outside the European Union (Switzerland, the United States, Colombia): if you choose one of them, your request may be forwarded to that centre, which handles it as an independent controller in order to reply to you. For Switzerland the European Commission's adequacy decision applies; for the other countries the transfer is necessary to perform your request (Art. 49(1)(b) GDPR). Apart from the Google services described in the cookies section, data is neither sold nor disclosed to third parties. We use technical suppliers who process data on our behalf and on our instructions: the server provider (located in the European Union) and the push notification delivery service, which is required for the message to reach your phone.
How long we keep them
- Quote requests: with us for 24 months from the last communication, then deleted. The workshop that receives them keeps them under its own obligations.
- Account and Garage: as long as you keep the account. If you delete it, they go immediately.
- Notification identifiers: as long as notifications are enabled or the app is installed.
How to delete everything
In the app: Garage → Delete account. Two taps, no need to write to us. Your account, the vehicles in your Garage and your device identifiers are deleted. Quote requests already sent remain with the workshop as commercial records: to have those deleted too, write to info@mastertuning.it. If you no longer have the app installed you can ask for deletion from this page: Delete your account and data.
Visit statistics, WhatsApp clicks and quote requests
To understand which pages are useful and where people come from we count visits with the minimum of data: the page opened, the language, the type of device, the site you came from and a code computed every day with an irreversible function from your IP address, your browser and the date: your IP address is not kept in these statistics and the code cannot be linked to the next day's. Because it is derived from data about you, it is pseudonymised, not anonymous, data. These own statistics use no cookies: your browser only remembers, until the tab is closed, which site you arrived from. The data stays on our servers, is not sold and is deleted after 14 months.
WhatsApp clicks and quote requests. When you press a WhatsApp button we record the page, vehicle, language, device, referrer and your IP address (which we also use to ignore repeated clicks): this data is deleted after 14 months. When you send a quote request we save, together with what you write, your IP address, the page and the site you came from and any campaign parameters (for example the www.mastertuning.it link you used), to understand which channels work and to defend ourselves against abuse. For this we remember the referrer in the tab memory (mt_prima) until you close the tab.
Legal basis: our legitimate interest in knowing how the site is used (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). You can object by writing to us or by enabling «Do Not Track» in your browser.
Cookies and Google tools (website only)
Technical cookie. The site stores one cookie of its own, mtdb_consenso, to remember the choice you make in the banner. It lasts six months, does not identify you and does not require consent.
Statistics with Google. Only if you press «Accept» in the banner do we load Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Limited), which use cookies (_ga, _ga_*) to count visits and understand which pages are useful,. Until you choose, or if you press «Refuse», your browser does not contact Google and no cookie of this kind is stored. The site works the same. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). The data is processed by Google and may be transferred to the United States, on the basis of the European Commission's adequacy decision of 10 July 2023 for organisations certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or of the standard contractual clauses (Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR). Analytics cookies last at most two years.
Changing your mind. You can reopen the banner at any time from «Cookie settings» at the bottom of every page and withdraw consent: the Analytics cookies are deleted.
Other technical resources. Fonts, icons and the map software are on our own server. Only on the Installers page do the map tiles come from OpenStreetMap: to display them your browser sends its IP address to that service, which we do not use to profile you. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in displaying the page (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Your rights
You may ask us at any time to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict its processing, receive it in a machine-readable format, and object to processing. You may withdraw consent without affecting what was done beforehand. If you believe the processing breaches the Regulation you may lodge a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority (www.garanteprivacy.it).
Children
The app and the website are not aimed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
